New start
In 1972, George Lucas offered Ford the role of speed buff Bob Falfa in his next film, American Graffiti. He accepts, because he considers the role important enough to be involved in the success of the film. To shoot his scenes, he has to cut his hair; but fearing that he would not be able to honor any additional filming proposals that might come his way, he suggests that George Lucas don a cowboy hat on Bob Falfa. The film was released in the summer of 1973 and earned more than $ 21 million when it was first released in theaters. Despite this success, Harrison Ford, then aged thirty, resumed his activity as a carpenter because the fee of 600 dollars he received for the shooting of this film was insufficient to support his family. However, his motivation for a career in cinema is revived.

Malgré ce succès, Harrison Ford, alors âgé de trente ans, reprend son activité de charpentier car le cachet de 600 dollars qu'il touche pour le tournage de ce film est insuffisant pour faire vivre sa famille.
