The 2000s: successive failures
Harrison Ford was then approached to play the role of Bob Barnes in Syriana (ultimately played by George Clooney, who won an Oscar for that role), but he declined. A decision he regrets afterwards. Two other disillusions for the actor follow. First with the Hollywood comedy Homicide, where he plays the old cops alongside Josh Hartnett, who brings in only two thirds of his budget, then with Firewall which is very badly received by the critics, despite the return to the roles of ordinary heroes who made it successful. It is finally by finding the character of Indiana Jones in The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, that Harrison Ford finds the top of the box office.

In 2009, he co-starred with Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd in the drama Droit de passage, written and directed by Wayne Kramer. Shot in 2007, the film highlights the story of foreign people who live illegally on American soil. Harrison Ford plays Max Brogan, an experienced immigration officer trying to help a young Mexican mother on the verge of deportation. Unfortunately, the film is very badly received by critics.

In 2010, he co-starred in the melodrama Exceptional Measures with Brendan Fraser, and also served as executive producer. But the film is another critical failure, but also a commercial one. That same year, he accepted a supporting role as an aging television star in Roger Michell's comedy Morning Glory, directed by Rachel McAdams, and produced by J. J. Abrams.

La même année, il accepte un rôle secondaire, celui d'une vedette de la télévision vieillissante, dans la comédie Morning Glory, de Roger Michell, menée par Rachel McAdams, et produite par J. J. Abrams.
