Blade Runner
In Blade Runner (1982), a film by Ridley Scott based on the novel Do androids dream of electric sheep? by novelist Philip K. Dick, Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, a wry and cynical private investigator. His interpretation is intense while giving a vulnerable image to the character. La vedette est intéressée par le film mais la lecture du premier scénario le laisse perplexe à cause de la présence d'une voix off racontant aux spectateurs ce qu'ils ne verront pas de l'investigation de Deckard. Il veut que l'on voie les choses plutôt qu'elles ne soient racontées. Des tensions s'établissent entre le réalisateur et son interprète principal, Ridley Scott ayant tendance à se soucier plus des décors que de ses acteurs. C'est ainsi que le personnage joué par Edward James Olmos est créé pour combler une erreur de conception : le poste de pilotage du véhicule que Harrison Ford doit piloter se trouve être trop étroit pour lui. L'idée retenue est d'embaucher un acteur plus petit pour piloter l'engin. Edward James Olmos est l'acteur qui conduit tandis que Harrison Ford est recroquevillé sur le siège passager.
