ORIGINE DU MAINE COON

Le Maine coon est originaire de l'État du Maine aux États-Unis. Il pourrait être
le résultat de croisements entre des chats semi-sauvages de cette région et des chats
Angoras importés par les colons européens aux États-Unis. Apparu au 19e siècle,
c’est véritablement depuis 1950 que le Maine cool connaît ses lettres de noblesse.
C’est un chat très répandu chez les Américains mais aussi en Europe depuis les années 1990
où le Maine coon est la race qui compte le plus d’inscrits au Livre officiel des origines félines (LOOF).

ORIGIN OF MAINE COON

Maine Coon is native to the state of Maine in the United States. It could be the result
of crosses between semi-wild cats from this region and Angora cats imported by
European settlers in the United States. Appeared in the 19th century, it is truly since 1950
that the cool Maine knows its nobility. It is a cat widespread among Americans but also
in Europe since the 1990s when the Maine Coon is the race with the most registered in the
Official Book of Feline Origins (LOOF).
