The street was opened in 1912 on the former crossing the Pont Neuf dating 18231. It takes the name of the engraver and artist Jacques Callot. The plate of the street is incorrectly marked "Jacques Callot, painter and engraver," since no known painting that can be attributed to, is the only known from engravings of Jacques Callot paintings.
