Carlos Ray Norris, dit Chuck Norris, est un acteur américain né le 10 mars 1940 à Ryan (Oklahoma).
D'abord connu comme artiste martial, il devient dans les années 1970 une vedette du cinéma d'action. De 1993 à 2001, il est l'acteur principal de la série télévisée Walker, Texas Ranger. Il est également connu pour les Chuck Norris Facts, des aphorismes humoristiques créés et diffusés sur Internet par ses fans en son honneur, devenant malgré lui un mème célèbre.

Carlos Ray Norris, known as Chuck Norris, is an American actor born on March 10, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma.
First known as a martial artist, he became in the 1970s a star of the action cinema. From 1993 to 2001, he was the lead actor on the television series Walker, Texas Ranger. He is also known for the Chuck Norris Facts, humorous aphorisms created and broadcast on the Internet by his fans in his honor, becoming in spite of himself a famous meme.

En 1968, Chuck Norris devient champion de karaté dans la catégorie poids moyen, et en 1969, il remporte la « triple couronne » en karaté pour le record des tournois remportés dans l'année et le titre de combattant de l'année, décerné par le magazine Black Belt[réf. souhaitée]. Il est champion du monde des poids moyens de 1968 à 1974. Il possède une ceinture noire en tangsudo, taekwondo et est le fondateur de l'école Chun Kuk Do (La voie universelle). Il pratique également le judo et le ju-jitsu. Il est aussi le fondateur de l'United Fighting Arts Federation (en) (UFAF). En 1994, aux Survivor Series (un pay-per-view de la WWE), il arbitre un Special Guest Referee Casket Match entre les catcheurs The Undertaker et Yokozuna. En 1997, il obtient un 8e dan (degré) en taekwondo, qui en comporte 10. Cette distinction le hisse au rang de Grand Maître. Il est un des premiers occidentaux à qui elle a été attribuée.

In 1968, Chuck Norris became a karate champion in the middleweight category, and in 1969, he won the "triple crown" in karate for the record of tournaments won in the year and the title of fighter of the year, awarded by the Black Belt magazine [ref. desired]. He is world champion of middleweight from 1968 to 1974. He has a black belt in tangsudo, taekwondo and is the founder of the school Chun Kuk Do (The universal way). He also practices judo and ju-jitsu. He is also the founder of the United Fighting Arts Federation (UFAF). In 1994, at the Survivor Series (a WWE pay-per-view), he refereed a Special Guest Referee Casket Match between the wrestlers The Undertaker and Yokozuna. In 1997, he earned an 8th dan (degree) in taekwondo, which has 10. This distinction elevates him to the rank of Grand Master. He is one of the first Westerners to whom it has been attributed.
